On June 18th, 2025, the Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF) hosted the “Behind the Scenes: The Arena Experience” media event at the Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Centre in Limassol. Organised by Purpose Communications, the event offered an exclusive preview of the newly upgraded arena that will host the EuroBasket 2025 Group Phase in Cyprus. Media representatives, government officials, and key stakeholders attended, including the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis.

The goal was to showcase the progress of renovation works, build anticipation for the tournament, and communicate CBF’s readiness to deliver a world-class event. Purpose Communications led the end-to-end execution, managing logistics, media invitations, branding, coordination with state officials, and on-site flow, while also ensuring strong media coverage and visual documentation.

The event served as a powerful milestone in the countdown to EuroBasket 2025, reinforcing CBF’s credibility and Cyprus’ capacity to host top-tier international sporting events.

The Brief

With FIBA Eurobasket 2025 approaching, the Cyprus Basketball Federation (CBF) sought to build anticipation and media excitement around the newly upgraded Spyros Kyprianou Athletic Centre, which will host the Group Phase of the tournament. The goal: offer media and stakeholders exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the venue, reinforce CBF’s credibility, and communicate national readiness to host a world-class event.  Purpose Communications was entrusted with the full strategy and execution of the event, from creative concept and media planning to protocol coordination and on-site management. Our team worked closely with CBF and government stakeholders to design an experience that would serve as a milestone in the lead-up to EuroBasket 2025 and reinforce Cyprus’s ability to host world-class sporting events.

  • Guest List & Protocol: We curated a targeted invite list of top-tier sports journalists, broadcasters, and public officials. Custom invitations and RSVP tracking enabled smooth registration and flow, while coordination with the Ministry of Transport ensured full protocol compliance and VIP participation.
  • Logistics & Experience Design: From guided venue access and stage setup to branded installations and Q&A zones, every element was planned to create a premium experience. We managed production, AV setup, Eurobasket visuals, and the strategic positioning of all signage and assets.
  • Media Handling & Visibility: Media received briefing packs and full support for coverage. We oversaw camera placements, set up media zones, facilitated interviews, and ensured top-quality content capture. Simultaneously, our creative team documented the event for future use across press, social, and stakeholder comms.
  • Branding Execution: Purpose designed and produced all visual assets, from invitations and banners to freestanding backdrops and print materials, ensuring a consistent, bold presence of the EuroBasket 2025 identity across the venue.
  • On-site Coordination: On the day, our team managed arrivals, venue walkthroughs, and the official programme. Guests were welcomed with branded memorabilia (#TeamCyprus scarves, t-shirts), a light cocktail, and direct access to key figures from the organising committee and government.
