The Oceana Symposium 2026 was a milestone event in Purpose Communications’ ongoing cooperation with Oceana, the world’s largest international advocacy organisation dedicated solely to ocean conservation.
Since December 2025, Purpose Communications has served as Oceana’s communications partner in Cyprus, supporting the organisation’s local visibility, stakeholder engagement and public positioning around ocean protection and sustainable marine policy.
Held in Limassol on 20 May 2026, the symposium took place at a highly relevant moment for Cyprus and Europe. It was organised one day before European Maritime Day 2026 opened in Limassol, during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This gave the event added significance, placing Oceana’s work in Cyprus within a wider European maritime and blue economy conversation.
The full-day symposium brought together representatives from government, academia, industry, environmental organisations and the maritime sector for focused dialogue on sustainable oceans, blue innovation and the future of marine protection.
Purpose Communications was entrusted with the complete planning and execution of the event. Our role covered the full conference experience, from project coordination, venue logistics, supplier management and branding to delegate registration, speaker support, protocol, audiovisual production, photography, videography and on-site delivery.
The result was a professionally delivered international symposium that strengthened Oceana’s presence in Cyprus, encouraged meaningful stakeholder engagement and positioned ocean protection within a timely European maritime conversation.
Following the formal symposium program, Purpose Communications also organised a cocktail reception for participants and additional guests, extending the event into a more informal setting for networking, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building.

Event Strategy: Purpose Communications led the overall event strategy and delivery plan for the Oceana Symposium 2026, ensuring the event served as both a high-level stakeholder platform and a milestone within Oceana’s wider communications activity in Cyprus. The team translated Oceana’s objectives into a structured full-day conference experience, managing the planning process, production timeline, coordination meetings, and stakeholder communication, with clear attention to the event’s purpose, audience, and expected outcome.
Venue & Production: Purpose coordinated the full venue and production setup at Columbia Plaza, shaping the physical event experience from arrival to completion. This included planning the conference room, registration area, stage setup, branded signage, audiovisual requirements, presentation flow, and delegate movement across the venue. Every touchpoint was designed to support a professional, coherent and accessible experience for speakers, guests, VIPs and participating organisations.
Supplier Coordination: Purpose managed all supplier communication and operational logistics, serving as the central point of coordination among Oceana, the venue, the technical crew, the catering team, photographers, videographers, and print suppliers. The team supervised the production and delivery of all event materials, managed timelines and quality control, and ensured that each supplier understood the symposium's standards, sustainability considerations, and practical requirements.
Guest & Speaker Management: Purpose handled the full guest and speaker coordination process, supporting participant registration, speaker logistics, presentation requirements, delegate materials, VIP arrivals, and distinguished guest needs. The team provided dedicated support to keynote speakers, moderators and panellists, ensuring that each contributor was properly briefed, prepared and supported throughout the event.
